RECOUNT TEXT

Three months ago exactly on August, all of my classmates in X-6 “SinkroSix” and I went to Kampung Lauk because we wanted to celebrate one of our friend’s  birthday. We got there by our motorcycle. It was almost five o’clock in the evening when we got there. And it was on fasting month. (ORIENTATION)

First, we ate the dishes that have been on the table. There were fish-toasted with some vegetables. They were very delicious. We ate while joking each other. We laughed at funny story and took some pictures. (EVENTS)

We went home at seven o’clock. It was very fun and we really enjoyed to be there. (RE-ORIENTATION)

You see? The story about my friends and I is an example of “Recount Text”

o Recount text is a text that tell the reader about what has happened at the past event.
o   Because of it tells the past event, so it uses “ Past Tense”
o   The purposes of recount text is:

1.      ORIENTATION
It gives the readers the background information needed to understand the text such as: who was involved, where it happened, and when it happened
2.      EVENTS
Consists of ordered in chronological sequence
3.      RE- ORIENTATION
